What is Industrial Engineering?

Industrial engineers have a solid base in math and science, but their background in business is what makes them unique and helps them solve real-world problems.

Industrial engineers design and improve the way goods and services are produced and delivered. They collaborate to find ways to save time, money, materials and other resources. Most importantly, they are responsible for improving the overall effectiveness of an organization.

The industrial engineering profession is in high demand across the U.S. and the world because it is used in nearly all industries -- particularly manufacturing, service, health care, energy, transportation and financial organizations.

In the video below, industrial engineers talk about the jobs they do, the satisfaction they experience and the impact they make in people's lives. For more information about the IMSE program at K-State call or email the department.
